Is Laundry Detergent Making You Hormonal & Fat? (Plus, A Plastic-Free,
Convenient,
Eco-Friendly Solution)
In This Article You’ll Learn...
My Big Fat Laundry Surprise
I was shocked to find out the "all-natural" laundry detergent I’d been using contained
sneaky, hormone-disrupting chemicals (more on this later).
I consider myself “in the know” when it
comes to things like household cleaners. My husband and I make sure to buy plant-based products whenever
possible. But I couldn’t believe it when I found out “all-natural” doesn’t mean non-toxic... and that was just
the beginning.
A Little-Known Cause of Weight Gain?
We all know that fattening foods can lead to weight gain, but I never thought in a million years
my laundry detergent could also play a role.
During a check-up, my doctor mentioned a study he’d just
read on laundry detergent.
“He went on to explain how the fragrance in detergents can act as a hormone
disruptor and lead to weight gain.” 1
He thought it would be a good idea to find an unscented detergent
as soon as possible. After hearing this news, I had to get to the bottom of this “detergent dilemma.”
What is “Fragrance” & How Does It Make You Fat?
Even though lots of big-name detergent brands claim to be “all-natural,” most of them actually
contain Fragrance: a group of chemicals linked to all sorts of negative side
effects.
Turns out, “fragrance” is a cover-up name for chemicals called
Phthalates. These dangerous substances have been linked to hormone imbalances, thyroid
problems, chronic weight gain, and even obesity.1,2
Thanks
to a loophole in the law books, big detergent companies manage to sneak these harmful chemicals into their
products — without having to list them in the ingredients! That’s why you won’t see “phthalates” on
any product label. Instead, you’ll see lighthearted names like “fragrance” or “perfume.”
But when your clothes are coated in these hormone-disrupting chemicals, they
absorb right into your skin and into your bloodstream.3
Finally… a Fragrance-Free Detergent That Works
Once I learned about dangerous detergents, I began my search for a fragrance-free option. I tried
a handful of scent-free brands, but they left my clothes smelling funky or just not fully clean.
I was
about to give up until I came across this small, family-owned company called EarthWash. Their
fragrance-free formula comes in the form of concentrated detergent strips. Each strip
dissolves in just a few seconds and leaves my clothes spotless.
EarthWash works just as well as any detergent I used before,
maybe
better! And even though it’s fragrant-free, my clothes still
smell fresh afterwards. It gets
rid of stains like a charm, and my clothes retain their
color and
quality for
so much longer.
EarthWash: 1 Sheet = 1 Load
The best part?
EarthWash is so convenient. It’s
compatible with every type of washer (top-loaders, front-loaders, HE machines, etc.) and dissolves completely
in any temperature.
And get this:
an entire box of
EarthWash weighs as much as a
single
detergent pod! That means more cabinet space, and no more heavy lifting those heavy, clunky
jugs.
Each strip of
EarthWash is pre-measured for
one load.
Simply throw a strip into the washer and you’re good to go — no more measuring,
no more
spills. Plus, each box of
EarthWash comes with 32
detergent strips. So, if you average one large load a week, one box can last you
8 months!
(You can also tear the strips in half for a smaller load!)
100% Plastic-Free, Biodegradable Packaging
Did you know the amount of laundry jugs put into landfills every year is enough to wrap around
the world five times?
EarthWash is made of
plastic-free,
biodegradable packaging. Thanks to their lightweight and compact design, EarthWash cuts down on
carbon emissions by 94% compared to liquid, powder, and pod detergents…
Plus, I found
out that
even plastic packaging can contain phthalates…
3 So even if
you switch to an unscented detergent, the plastic jug itself might be a risk to your
health.
EarthWash’s plastic-free, phthalate-free packaging completely eliminates this risk. Switching
to
EarthWash isn’t just the right thing to do for the
planet, it’s the right thing to do for your body.
With over 86,858 boxes of EarthWash sold, I wanted a fresh perspective...
I’d read tons of positive reviews by happy customers, but I needed a fresh perspective before I
gave it my full stamp of approval. So, I ordered 3 boxes to give to my best friend, and she carefully recorded
her results..

- My Review of
EarthWash
Week 1
I wanted to try EarthWash because I’m tired of lugging around jugs of
detergent. They’re heavy and messy — I almost always end up spilling every time I do a load. Plus, I’m
trying to be eco-friendly anyway, so I figured why not? I used one EarthWash strip in a normal load of
laundry and simply waited for it to finish.
RESULT: After drying my clothes, I did a full inspection. I was honestly
amazed. Other detergents normally leave behind some residue. My clothes would often be stiff or irritate my
skin. This was NOT the case with EarthWash. My clothes were super soft, smelled fresh, and felt great on my
skin.
Week 2
For my next load, I wanted to see if EarthWash could get rid of stains. Sure, it worked
great on an average load of laundry, but what about stain removal? Well, only one way to find out. So, I
threw an EarthWash strip into the machine with some grease-stained jeans.
RESULT: I wasn’t expecting a ‘miracle’ – sometimes my usual detergent
doesn’t even get rid of stubborn stains, so how could an “eco-friendly” alternative do any better? I came
back to inspect my jeans and I was shocked! The grease-stain was gone.
Week 3
After using EarthWash for three weeks now, I’m completely amazed at how well it works. Doing
laundry is so easy, I’ve got tons more space in my cabinets, and I even feel a difference in my skin. And
here’s the best part: I’ve ended-up saving tons of money with this product and it feels great to do
something for the environment.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS
We already have so many things to worry about when it comes to staying healthy. Laundry
detergent shouldn’t be one of them. That’s why I love
EarthWash.
It’s just an added bonus that it’s great for the environment
and super convenient. I never thought
I’d be a fan of unscented detergent… but I can safely say
EarthWash
leaves my clothes smelling naturally fresh
without any risky chemical
fragrances.
Although I was skeptical at first, they really clean clothes just as well — if
not better — than regular detergent. If you’re looking for something fragrance-free, eco-friendly, or just a
more convenient laundry soap, I highly recommend trying
EarthWash
for yourself.
